Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

The short version

SayItHere does not collect, store, or share any personal data — ever. Your location is used only on your device to find nearby places. Nothing is sent to any server. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no analytics.

Location data

SayItHere requests access to your device's location in order to detect nearby places (such as cafés, restaurants, and hotels) and suggest relevant French phrases for that context.

Data we do not collect

Data stored on your device

SayItHere stores the following information locally on your device only, using iOS standard storage. This data never leaves your phone:

Third-party services

Live Mode uses the OpenStreetMap Overpass API to find places near your location. When this feature is used, your approximate coordinates are sent to the Overpass API in order to return nearby places. This is subject to the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy. No personally identifiable information is included in this request.

Phrase data updates

SayItHere may download updated phrase content from GitHub to keep vocabulary current without requiring an app update. Only the phrase file is downloaded — no user data is sent during this process.

Children's privacy

SayItHere does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no user accounts, no forms, and no data submission of any kind.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Any changes will maintain the same commitment to collecting no personal data.
